Mentoring Program

The Foundation for Aspiring Minority Accountants, Inc. Undergraduate Mentoring Program aims to connect recent college graduates of African-American, Hispanic, and Asian descent with experienced seasoned Accountants to share academic and professional career advice. 

Recent College Graduates

The Foundation for Aspiring Minority Accountants, Inc. (FAMA) aims to bridge the gap and increase representation in minority communities and the field of accounting.  Our ultimate goal is to open doors of opportunity for BIPOC students in the world of accountancy as we advance the field into the 21st century.

The Foundation for Aspiring Minority Accountants, Inc. will provide mentorship to selected recent college graduates (up to five years) of African-American, Hispanic, and Asian descent who seek guidance with practical workplace solutions, career advancement and employment, and counsel in the field of accounting.

Requirements

𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:

  • Applicant must be an African-American, Hispanic, and/or Asian student

  • Applicant must be a graduate of a college/university with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting

  • Applicant must reside in the United States

𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:
The applicant will be required to submit an application form, two (2) letters of recommendation, a resume, a photo, and write an essay to be considered for the program. A transcript will also be required.

The essay must include answers to the following questions:

  • Why are you interested in the FAMA Recent College Mentoring Program?

  • What would you like out of your relationship with your Mentor?

  • Are you currently employed?  If so, what is your title and job description?

  • What have you done to enhance your knowledge and skills in your career? (provide details)

  • The essay should be double-spaced and a minimum of eight hundred (800) words.

 

𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

  • A college/university faculty member; written on the school’s original letterhead (or)

  • A place of employment from a manager; written on the organization's original letterhead (or)

  • A community service organization; written on the organization’s original letterhead (or)

Deadline and Process

𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞:
The completed application and supporting documents must be submitted by 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 to be considered for the mentoring program.

 

After this date, no applications will be accepted.

𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬:

  • The FAMA Mentorship Committee will review each application received by the deadline

  • The FAMA Mentorship Committee will choose applicants to advance to the interview

  • The FAMA Mentorship Committee will interview each chosen applicants

  • The FAMA Mentorship Committee will select the Recent College Graduate Mentoring Program participants
